Frances Tiafoe has enjoyed his Laver Cup stay this year and he talked about some of the things the crowd did not get to see.
The US Open semifinalist joined Team World for this year's competition, and both when he was competing and when he was on the bench, he exuded a genuine interest in the happenings. Following his defeat to Djokovic, Tiafoe spoke about his teammates and what they were like in the locker room:
“I think everyone has their kind of funny stuff. Everyone gets pretty chill, to be honest with you. Tommy [Paul], [Taylor] Fritz and I know each other for so long, so we have joked for years. Then you have couple other guys. It’s funny, because everyone is such a different personality."
While Tiafoe and the Americans are more on the chill side, some of the other teammates are a bit more focused on the tennis part: "Felix [Auger-Aliassime] and Demon (Alex de Minaur) are much more, you know, in-tune and locked in on a day-to-day process, not that we are not, but they go about their business definitely different."
" You kind of let them do their thing. Then the American guys are just like being clowns and loud, talking bulls**t. It’s fun.”
Eventually, it was Tiafoe who led Team World to overall victory at the 2022 Laver Cup when he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas to earn 13th point for his team which was decisive.
