Bianca Andreescu has not played in a while, but she announced her return at the 2022 San Diego Open, even though her name doesn't appear on the entry list.
Seven of the Top 10 WTA players are expected to compete at the San Diego Open. The WTA 500 event will run from October 10th to 16th, and it seems that Andreescu will be among the players competing as well.
The Canadian last competed at the US Open, where she reached the third round. In her first two matches, the former champion bested Harmony Tan and Beatriz Haddad Maia before losing to Caroline Garcia.
Fans waited where she would appear again, and Andreescu now ended the wait. The former WTA World No. 4 player announced her next tournament. The Canadian revealed that she will play at the San Diego Open next via a post on her Twitter.
"The journey continues. San Diego Open next."
However, her announcement confused the fans a little bit. At the moment, Andreescu's name doesn't appear on the entry list. That means the Canadian player either received a wild card, which has yet to be decided, or she knows about some withdrawals that might make it possible for her to enter the main draw.
So far, in 2022, the Canadian player has struggled with inconsistency. She only played 26 matches, winning 16 of those. Now, she will want to build some confidence ahead of the new season.
Andreescu will likely want to forget her previous injury struggles and once again return to the Top 10. Also this year, she proved that she has the necessary level to do that. However, she still misses a bit of consistency, and especially, she must remain healthy.
