Novak Djokovic is not vaccinated, and as such, he can't enter the United States or Canada, meaning his participation at the 2022 Canadian Open in Montreal is questionable.
The US government has already confirmed that their COVID-19 guidelines to enter the country won't be changed till the end of the year, making Djokovic's US Open participation practically impossible.
The Serbian player could still get an exemption to enter the country, but that doesn't seem to be very likely at the moment, or at least there is nothing that would indicate such development.
The US state of New York has had one of the strictest COVID-19 policies in the country since the start of the pandemic, and it seems unlikely to change. Djokovic also can't enter Canada as an unvaccinated person, and Canada's health minister confirmed that in a recent interview.
"Well first, the rules apply to everyone. There are a few exceptions but these are limited exceptions. So first of all, the rules apply to everyone, and second, COVID-19 is not over yet."
"And again, we need to be mindful of the fact that despite we have been so successful with two doses, we need to up our game and have more Canadians being up to date on their vaccination status."
Djokovic already missed Indian Wells and Miami because of it, and he now seems set to miss the ATP Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati as well as the US Open. When recently asked about it at Wimbledon, Djokovic said:
"I'm not vaccinated and I'm not planning to get vaccinated, so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter the United States, or exemption."
"I don't think an exemption is realistically possible. I'll wait for some good news from the US because I would really love to go there."
