'Only Precaution': Alcaraz Reportedly Set To Be Ready For Monte Carlo Amid Injury Worries

Carlos Alcaraz is dealing with some forearm discomfort, but it shouldn't be serious enough to keep him out of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters.

The Spaniard arrived in Monaco in high spirits, hoping to finally put together a good run in the Principality. He spoke pretty openly about his ambitions for the ATP Masters 1000 event after having some good weeks in the United States, but there is something that might prove a small disturbance.

Alcaraz was spotted with a heavy taping on his arm in practice leading up to the event, which sparked some curiosity about his health. He declared himself free of the ankle injury, which is great news, but the forearm seemingly is an issue; otherwise, he wouldn't have left practice early because of it.

According to some reporters on the ground in Monaco, most notably Jose Moron, the discomfort is present, but it's only that. It's a minor discomfort, so everything that he's been doing is mostly precautionary in nature.

The reporter also suggested that there is no danger for Alcaraz to miss the event because it's not something he can't manage from match to match. That's great news to hear because the Spaniard already missed the event last year and actually only played one match in Monte Carlo (2022).

The draw has been fairly difficult, giving him Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is tricky, but Alcaraz should be able to overcome the challenge. In general, his injury will be observed from match to match.

The event will feature a lot of matches in a short time span, as it's a rare one-week ATP Masters 1000 tournament, so while it might not be a problem right now, it's certainly something worth observing, especially with the Barcelona Open coming up next week. He's the defending champion there, so it may come into question when deciding about his participation in Monte Carlo.
