Novak Djokovic has continued to spend time in the small town of Visoko in Bosnia and Herzegovina just days after his Wimbledon triumph.
A few days ago, Djokovic lifted the seventh Wimbledon trophy of his career, and a few days later, he’s walking through forests in a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Serbian wasted no time in London but opted to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina because there is a natural park that he fell in love with last year. He first visited it in 2021 due to its supposed healing abilities and felt a profound effect on himself.
He credited winning the 2021 Roland Garros event to that visit and returned a couple of times since then. He plans on promoting the place as a hotspot for tennis players to come and recharge there, much like he does.
He even committed further by buying some land and opening some tennis courts at the complex recently as well. Djokovic is still in the area, hosting a kids' event and touring the city of Visoko, where he was given a special award by the mayor of the town.
He became an honorary citizen of the town of Visoko due to his promotion of the natural park nearby. His promotion and 'good word' spiked interest in the natural park, which has seen an increase in visitors since his initial visit, both local and from countries abroad.
The Serbian was honoured by the award and promised to spread the word even further, as he truly believes in the special nature of the park. He’s been rather outspoken about his belief in unconventional methods, but with his track record, it’s hard to doubt whatever he does.
On the second day of the festivities, Djokovic opened basketball courts in Visoko as well, even playing with native player Dzanan Musa, who plays for Real Madrid Baloncesto.
The most pressing question still remains whether he’ll be permitted to enter the United States for the upcoming US Open. Right now it seems likely that he’ll miss the event unless some special exemption comes.
