Nadal Scares Fans With Latest Injury Update Ahead Of Qatar Open

Rafael Nadal's comeback has been a real rollercoaster so far, and it continues to be also ahead of the 2024 Qatar Open in Doha.

The new ATP season started perfectly for the Spanish player. He won two matches in Brisbane, and seemingly, everything was going really well on his highly-anticipated comeback to tennis.

However, then, during a loss to Jordan Thompson, Nadal sustained an injury, which forced him to withdraw from the Australian Open. But all started looking much better soon after that.

The 22-time major winner signed up for the Qatar Open, and the news from his camp were positive as well. On top of that, he regularly posted videos from training, suggesting he will be easily ready for the ATP 250 tournament in Doha.

However, shortly prior to the Qatar Open, Nadal provided an update, which worried most of his fans. According to Relevo, the Spaniard admitted to Ana Pastor for El Objective, that he's still struggling with discomfort.

"I have had some discomfort in recent weeks and I am a little bit on the limit. At this point every blow I take, every injury, is a setback not only in tennis and physically, but also mentally."

However, even if he would be forced to skip the Qatar Open in Doha, the 14-time Roland Garros champion remains positive about competing during the Sunshine Double, as he admitted he wants to play at the Indian Wells Open.

"I trust 100% to be in Indian Wells, it is a very special tournament for me. I don't know if it will be the last time I am going to play it, but there are options that yes, so I would like to be in Indian Wells."

It seems that the 37-year-old is still undecided whether he'll play in Doha, as he admitted that he'll make the decision about his participation "last minute."

"I would love to be in Doha, but I see the decision for Doha more at the last minute."
