Rafael Nadal swapped the tennis courts for the golf course in Mallorca as he enjoyed the serene surroundings on the grass with a golf club.
The 37-year-old was dressed in full golf gear and smiling broadly in the pictures he posted on his Instagram stories. The golf course was in Mallorca, where Nadal has been actively sharpening his tennis skills recently after announcing his tennis return.
The Spaniard is a renowned multisport athlete who occasionally plays amateur golf tournaments while away from the tennis tour. Last year, Nadal finished second at his home city's Balearic Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.
His golf skills have even earned the admiration of fellow tennis player Casper Ruud. And his most recent golfing session was the perfect way to unwind from a heavy tennis practice schedule. Nadal is expected to play his first tennis tournament in a year at next month's Brisbane International.
But before he travels Down Under, Nadal will head to the Middle East and make a pitstop in the oil-rich gulf nation of Kuwait, where his academy has an established presence in the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex in Zahra.
Nadal invited French teenager Arthur Fils, an exciting young prospect who was runner-up at the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals, to train with him during his stay there. It is unclear how many days or weeks Nadal intends to practice there, but he will return to Spain in time for Christmas.
His next flight will be heading to Australia in late December. Nadal will partake in his first ATP event of the 2024 season in Brisbane (just his second tournament appearance in Queensland after a quarterfinal run in 2017).
This is expected to be Nadal's only warm-up tournament before the Australian Open, which marked his last tournament before injury. His last tournament win on Australian soil was actually a Grand Slam win in 2022.
