Jannik Sinner has won many matches over the past few months, and he made it to 200 ATP Tour-level wins, becoming the first player born after 2000 to do so.
Sinner is one of the youngest players on the Tour, which is evident by his birth date. The Italian was born in 2001, one of the few top players to have been born in this millennium.
As such, he had a head start on some of them because he's basically been playing as a teenager. Carlos Alcaraz, for example, might have overtaken him when it comes to some other achievements, but Sinner has been playing for longer since he was born earlier.
The Italian has more ATP wins to his name than Alcaraz or any other fellow player born in the 2000s. By beating Milos Raonic in Rotterdam, Sinner got to 200 ATP wins, becoming the first man born after 2000 to do so.
That's a pretty impressive feat and shows how far he's come. He started as a skinny teenager with a tremendous baseline game, and he's now a less skinny but equally strong Grand Slam champion.
It's been a wonderful career for Sinner so far, but the progression is the most important thing. He didn't just become a good player out of nowhere. He slowly became better and better until he finally won a major.
There weren't any skipped steps, which is why he's equipped to keep it going. Sooner rather than later, Sinner will win 300 matches and then 400 matches and likely join the pretty small 500-win club.
There aren't that many tennis players that make it there, but he's well on his way to get there. We'll see how far he goes, but for now, he'll keep working towards improving himself as a player. Step by step, as he's done so far.
