'It Wasn't An Easy Ride': Murray Details Chaotic Drive With Draper After Davis Cup Win

Former ATP No. 1 Andy Murray talked about compatriot Jack Draper's post-match celebration after Great Britain reached the Davis Cup Final 8.

With the tie against France finely poised at 1-1, Daniel Evans and Neal Skupski delivered in a winner-takes-all doubles rubber against the French pair of Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. There were 13,000 fans inside Manchester's AO Arena who lived through a rollercoaster.

It was a record crowd for a Davis Cup tie in the United Kingdom. Evans and Skupski heroically saved four match points to clinch the tie and secure Great Britain's spot in the Final 8 scheduled to take place in November. They'll meet a Novak Djokovic-led Serbian team in Malaga.

It was an eventful day for all the players and fans, but the night was only halfway done for British pair Andy Murray and Jack Draper who shared the car on their way home to the south of England. Both of them played an integral role in securing wins over Switzerland and Australia.

Murray, for his part, missed his grandmother's funeral on the day he defeated Switzerland's Leandro Riedi, at the behest of his father who asked him to play. The 36-year-old's experience certainly counted big time, and he duly delivered.

Murray shared a hilarious video on his Instagram after they secured their qualification over France, with the caption: “Kids these days. 3 and a half hours of this on the way home,” as Draper could be seen celebrating wildly while chugging a can of beer.

The 36-year-old had to take the driver's seat much to his dismay and has since revealed that Draper's party began even before the trip. Murray's body language during the video showed he was clearly not impressed.

"Jack had a few before we left & took more in the car with him. So I obviously had to drive whilst listening to this very loud music & it was like one or two in the morning as well so it wasn't an easy ride."
