Jannik Sinner is a motorsport enthusiast, and his love affair with Formula 1 and cars in general began at a very young age.
Sinner was recently at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Maranello, where he took a deep dive into the company's history and behind its secret of being labeled one of the most powerful car brands in the world.
Ferrari is not just the niche of a luxury car company but encompasses a racing decision within Formula 1, and is the oldest surviving and most successful Formula 1 team in history, having competed for every world championship since 1950.
The World No. 4 was given a tour of the assembly line and saw how each Ferrari is handmade. The 22-year-old tennis star recounts his earliest memories of watching Formula 1. He was introduced to motor racing by his father and spent the weekends watching Grand Prix races with his late grandfather, Josef.
"The heart of Ferrari, because Ferrari is the brand that has made history in this sport. I've always had a great passion for engines and cars. It was my Dad who passed it on to me," Sinner continued. "As a child, I used to watch Formula 1 on Sundays, with my Granddad. It was more difficult with my parents because they worked a lot. So, I either watched it alone or with my Grandfather."
"The first thing that comes to mind about a car is its sound, the Ferrari sound is unique. It was great to come to Maranello and find out not only how the sound is created, but to learn about the story behind each car, the story of how they are made. Today I learned a lot about the Ferrari, the tiny details, everything you can choose from, from the seats or whatever. Everything in a Ferrari is unique."
After getting an immersive experience in which Sinner also discovered some of the most iconic models of the company, he was got behind the wheel of a blue Ferrari Purosangue and drove through the hills of a Maranello before he switched to SF90 Spider Assetto Fiorano.
Sinner called the experience an "amazing thrill," almost like it was an extension of his body while driving. The tennis star recently signed on a brand collaboration with F1 in which he will attend several Grand Prix races next season in a bid to promote the sport.
