Taylor Fritz's girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, took aim at Alexander Zverev on social media over his recently concluded domestic abuse case.
Fritz and Zverev played out a thrilling five-set match in the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The American World No. 12 recovered from two sets deficit to win 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in three and half hours.
It is the 11th time that a player has fought back from 0-2 sets to win in five at this year's Championships, extending a new Open Era record at Wimbledon.
However, shortly after the match, Fritz's social media influencer partner, Riddle, sparked a feud between her boyfriend and the German star on now-deleted Instagram posts.
In the first post, Riddle shared a photo she captured of Centre Court while watching from the coaching box with the message, "When ur man wins 4 the girls," and the second one, a video of herself dancing in a post-victory celebration and wrote, "cheer loud ladies.''
The two posts appeared to mock Zverev, who has previously been accused of domestic abuse by two of his ex-girlfriends. The World No. 4 faced a trial in May but agreed to an out-of-court settlement with Brenda Patea, who is the mother of his three-year-old daughter Mayla.
The case was eventually dropped last month, although Zverev was instructed to pay €150,000 to the state and €50,000 to charitable organizations. The court did not convict him.
The 2024 Roland Garros runner-up was playing on an injured knee after he slipped during his third-round win over Cameron Norrie and was not playing in full health, as he stated after the defeat to Fritz.
