Fritz Turns His Racket Into Weapon During Attempted Break-In At Airbnb

Taylor Fritz's girlfriend shared details of an attempted break-in at the pair's Airbnb, and the world No. 6 chose a familiar piece of equipment as a weapon.

Fritz is currently between tournaments after losing in the round of 32 at the Paris Masters to the Vienna Open champion Jack Draper. It was a rare early exit during an excellent season for Fritz.

The 27-year-old most notably reached his maiden Grand Slam final at this year's US Open. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner proved too good in the final, overcoming the American in a one-sided match.

That achievement was one of the pivotal reasons Fritz qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin. He confirmed his place after Andrey Rublev and Tommy Paul lost their matches on Tuesday in Paris.

Although Fritz undoubtedly wants to win every match. his level and intensity dropping slightly on Wednesday against Draper was understandable after officially booking his place in Turin.

With the ATP Finals not starting until November 10th, Fritz and his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, are currently in London. Riddle shared a scary incident at an Airbnb in the city and Fritz's reaction to it.

In an Instagram story, Riddle started by recounting two bad Airbnb experiences before what happened to her and Fritz in London.

"In 2017, I stayed in an Airbnb and woke up to a man standing over me while I was sleeping. This July, I stayed in an Airbnb and my friend and I walked in on someone actively robbing our house."

Riddle then revealed that someone tried to break into the London Airbnb where she stayed with Fritz. Shockingly, the second lock for the front door had been removed, making the situation even scarier and more unsafe.

"At 4am this morning Taylor and I wake up to someone trying to enter the code and break into the front door of the Airbnb we're staying at in London. I tell Taylor to run and lock the secondary lock as they're standing outside trying to get in and IT'S BEEN REMOVED???""

Despite potential weapons like knives probably being available in the Airbnb, Fritz chose an item that he has repeatedly proven he knows how to use well.

"Of all potential weapons in the house this man grabs a racket."

On a serious note, Riddle wrote about how unsafe Airbnbs are. She recommends staying at a hotel, especially if traveling alone, since Airbnbs are intentionally targeted in many cities worldwide.

"Airbnb is SO unsafe. They are intentionally targeted in many cities. Houses are nice for longer stays but please just stay in a hotel, especially if you are traveling alone or only with girls. I swore I'd never stay in one again after past experiences but clearly didn't learn my lesson."

Thankfully, Fritz and Riddle are safe. The couple will undoubtedly be staying at hotels in the future, starting next week at the ATP Finals in Turin. Fritz made one previous appearance at the year-end tournament in 2022.
