Taylor Fritz will wear a new kit at this year's Indian Wells Open, and surprisingly, it will not be associated with Nike.
In the days leading to a big tournament, tennis fans are always glued to their social media accounts, trying to find the latest snapshots of what their favorite players will be wearing. It is one of the ways in which tennis enthusiasts identify with the players, simply by the kind of clothing they put on.
Fans of Taylor Fritz needed time to process the news that he would not be donning his usual clothing apparel sponsored by the American sportswear company Nike. Fritz has worn Nike since 2016, just a year from his official ATP debut.
Moreover, Fritz had also been wearing Nike's red and black combo for the Netflix Slam exhibition just days ago, making the imminent switch a shocker.
But it appears there hasn't been an extension to his association with the company after the USA's top-ranked ATP star was recently spotted wearing BOSS, the German luxury brand, in practice while preparing for Indian Wells.
Fritz also gave the fans a glimpse of what his outfit would look like when he geared up to play at the Eisenhower Cup. It was an all-black mix of top and shorts accentuated with a white middle line on the back.
The change of clothing sponsor didn't bring the 26-year-old any joy on the court, as he was eliminated in the first round together with her doubles partner Aryna Sabalenka. However, Fritz's footwear still remains with Nike.
Fritz is the number 12 seed in this year's BNP Paribas Open draw and will open against the winner of the match between Alejandro Tabilo and Pavel Kotov.
He has a wonderful track record of playing his best tennis at his home tournament. The Californian won this event in 2022 by beating 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal to the title.
