The 2024 Indian Wells Open is the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, and the draw for it certainly didn't disappoint.
After the women's draw was done for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, the men's draw followed, and there were many storylines to unfold. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion at the tournament, and also the second seed.
Like all seeds at the event, he has a first-round bye, so focusing on his second-round clash, the 20-year-old Spaniard will begin against the winner of the match between two youngsters, Luca Van Assche and Matteo Arnaldi.
His biggest rival currently, Novak Djokovic, is on the other side of the draw as the top seed. The Serbian will play his first tournament since his Australian Open loss, and he will want to impress in the opening match against a qualifier or Aleksandar Vukic.
There's one man who is still undefeated in 2024, and it's Jannik Sinner, who will arrive to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden as one of the top favourites. The third-seeded Italian will want to keep his streak going, taking on Thanasi Kokkinakis or Marcos Giron in the second round.
One of the most interesting things about this year's draw was the fact that a 22-time Grand Slam champion was unseeded, leaving anyone vulnerable. Rafael Nadal could have landed anywhere, and the Spanish player will play against Milos Raonic in the first round, with Holger Rune awaiting should he win his match.
Daniil Medvedev will be also one of the favourites in Indian Wells, and the fourth-seeded Russian will start his tournament against the winner of the match between Flavio Cobolli and Roberto Carballes Baena.
