Novak Djokovic's
Roland Garros triumph has him at the top of the ATP Rankings for another week extending his previous record.
Some time ago Novak Djokovic became the player with most weeks spent at number one in tennis
when he replaced Steffi Graf as the leader in that regard. He has been at the top of the rankings for 389 weeks now which is fairly close to 400 weeks and that pops on a page far better than 3xx.
It's something he's been backed to do and so far it's looking good.
He's at the top today (June 19th, 2023), ahead of
Carlos Alcaraz and the rest of the field. He's not certain to be number one next week too, because the Spaniard can dethrone him if he pulls together an impressive run at Queen's Club and wins the trophy.
Number three behind them is
Daniil Medvedev who sits in front of
Casper Ruud and
Stefanos Tsitsipas. The rest of the top 10 consists of
Holger Rune,
Andrey Rublev,
Taylor Fritz,
Jannik Sinner and
Frances Tiafoe. The last among them is making his Top 10 debut after
winning the Stuttgart Open trophy on Sunday which made this possible.
Another player who made a significant jump is
Andy Murray. The Brit moved up six spots becoming world number 38 right now. It's a big jump for
Murray who returns to the top 40 for the first time in five years. He was last ranked in the top 40 in May of 2018.
Some other players made big moves. Tallon Grieskpoor is making his Top 30 debut.
Marton Fucsovics jumped 20 spots to be ranked inside the Top 70 again. Jordan Thompson is up 27 spots and Alcaraz-slayer Fabian Maroszan finally makes his Top 100 debut weeks
after stunning the Spaniard in Rome.
Kei Nishikori also made an appearance on the ATP Rankings again after being unraked for a while. He's far from the Top 100 but if he keeps playing
the way he did recently, then he'll be there rather quickly.
