Andy Murray was hit by terrible injury news, as he was forced to withdraw from two tournaments after Miami Open disaster.
The British player was finally playing a really good tournament in Miami, but once again, it ended in a disaster. Murray won a couple of matches when he took on Tomas Machac, and he got chances against the young Czech.
However, in the third set of the match, when he just levelled the score at 5-5, he injured his ankle, and immediately after that, Murray provided an update, saying he would be out for an extended period of time.
Now, we know more details as the 36-year-old has already seen specialists, and following consultations, he made a decision to withdraw from the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters and the Munich Open.
Obviously, Murray's goal during this season will be to play at Wimbledon, but his participation in Monaco and Germany would be his last in his tennis career, so it certainly disappoints the Brit. According to the Mirror, the decision came after talk with his team and specialists.
"Following consultation with his team and medical experts, Andy Murray has taken the decision to miss the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and BMW Open Munich."
It's clear that former world no. 1 won't be able to compete in Monte Carlo and Munich; however, it's not clear how long he will be out.
According to the update, it's impossible to determine the length of recovery at the moment, keeping his race against time for his final Wimbledon participation really tense.
"At this stage, it is still not clear how long Andy will be out of action, and he is continuing to review options with his medical team. Obviously this is very disappointing news for Andy and he has reiterated his desire to get back on court as soon as possible."
