Carlos Alcaraz informed his fans and the general public to remain vigilant in the wake of learning about individuals alluding to represent him.
Carlos Alcaraz strongly and vehemently condemned this act and shared the information with his near four million followers on Instagram on Thursday night. In the modern sporting world, he becomes the latest public figure to have his name used for duping unobservant social media users.
Alcaraz was disappointed to learn of this heinous act, that people are being scammed to part away with their money by individuals who are wrongfully and falsely alluding to work on his behalf and that they would get a chance to meet him personally. Alcaraz also adds neither his team are behind this type of soliciting.
The 20-year-old has risen in rank and prominence since winning his first Grand Slam title at last year's US Open. And following his maiden Wimbledon title last month, he held the number one ranking on the ATP Tour. Alcaraz also experienced a massive social media following boom on Instagram.
"It has been brought to my attention that there are individuals who are falsely claiming to represent me and offer fans to meet with me if they pay. My team and I are not behind any of this soliciting nor do I participate in meetings like this! My fans are the best and I am saddened that individuals are trying to take advantage of them."- Alcaraz posted on his Instagram account
The Spaniard is currently preparing to play in Toronto in a few days to begin his US Open summer series at next week's Canadian Open. In the absence of former champion Novak Djokovic who Alcaraz dethroned at this year's Wimbledon, the world number one will be the odds-on favorite to lift his third Masters title of the year.
Alcaraz has stepped up his preparations for the hard-court swing by practicing at the Juan Carlos Ferrero Tennis Academy and captioned on his Instagram post of leaving for Canada very soon. The two-time Grand Slam champion will learn about his projected path when the draw ceremony takes place on Friday.
