Carlos Alcaraz has had commemorative tattoos done in the past, and the Spaniard answered whether he intends to do that again.
Alcaraz begins his Paris Masters campaign against Nicolas Jarry on Tuesday. He has not produced his best tennis at the tournament, never making it past the quarterfinal.
That included a very surprising loss in the second round last year against Roman Safiullin. It might have been the Spaniard's worst performance of 2023, and he did not seem to have as much energy as usual.
Alcaraz has admitted he was tired in the closing stages of his previous few seasons on the ATP Tour, and that hampered his chances of going far at the final Masters 1000 tournament of the season.
However, Alcaraz does not feel that way this year and has outlined why he is confident this year's Paris Masters will be different. The 21-year-old does not think going farther than previous years is a tough ask.
The four-time Grand Slam champion also aims to reach a first final at an indoor tournament at the Paris Masters. One of Roger Federer's former coaches does not expect him to be the biggest threat to Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals because of his previous struggles in indoor conditions.
Some may have wondered whether Alcaraz would be tempted to mark his first indoor title, whenever that may occur, with a tattoo since he has done that for the biggest tournaments in tennis.
However, Alcaraz confirmed he would not get a tattoo if he won the Paris Masters title and only gets one for each time he wins a Grand Slam for the first time.
"Uh No. I mean, I'm not. I don't think that I'm gonna have another tattoo or I said, if I win, you know, the first Grand Slams, you know, when I won the US Open, Wimbledon, Roland Garros, of course."
The former world No. 2 said he did not get a tattoo to commemorate his second Wimbledon title, and only plans to do so again for the Australian Open, the Grand Slam he is yet to win.
"But not second Wimbledon, I didn't, I didn't put a tattoo on it. So, hopefully Australian Open is gonna be the next one. But uh yeah, it's here. It's a nice tattoo with the date obviously. So, hopefully, Australian Open is gonna be the next. (smiles)"
Alcaraz got a unique tattoo for each of his past Grand Slam triumphs. After winning the 2022 US Open, he added the letters "CCC" in reference to his grandfather's motto, "Cabeza, Corazon, Cojones" (head, heart, b**s).
His 2023 Wimbledon triumph was marked with the date of his epic five-set final victory against Novak Djokovic, along with a strawberry etched on his right angle.
Alcaraz had a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower placed on his left ankle for his French Open title this year. The 21-year-old showed that tattoo to members of the media in Paris when answering the question about whether he would get further tattoos.
