Carlos Alcaraz has been recognized once again for his achievements, but this time, it is from local royalty in Spain.

It is widely acknowledged that the 20-year-old is going to be a superstar for many years to come. In fact, Adriano Panatta believes Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will be the queen couple of tennis in the coming years.

The Spaniard had some success in North America last month by winning the title in Indian Wells. His attention now moves to the clay court season, with Alcaraz's first practice on clay captured on video.

Alcaraz has already accomplished so much in his young career. After winning his first title in Umag in 2021 against French tennis legend Richard Gasquet, he then made a huge breakthrough in 2022.

This most notably involved winning the US Open title, beating Casper Ruud in the final. He also claimed two ATP Masters 1000 titles in Miami and Madrid during his outstanding season that endeared him to the tennis world.

More than a year later, Alcaraz has now received special recognition for what he achieved in 2022. King Felipe of Spain conferred Alcaraz with the Spanish Sportsman of the Year award for 2022.

This was a hugely special honour for Alcaraz. He made this clear with a statement on his Instagram page that expressed his absolute delight at receiving such a prestigious award from the Spanish king.

"Special and unforgettable day! Many thanks to His Majesties the Kings for delivering me this award! Equally, I would like to thank the jury of the National Sports Awards, as well as @deportegob, for granting me the Rey Felipe Award."

Of course, Alcaraz has gone on to achieve even more since 2022 despite his young age. This included his stunning triumph in the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic. There will undoubtedly be many more memorable moments for him in the coming years.
