The draw for the men's singles event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, running from July 27th to August 4th, has been released.
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be special for tennis players, since, for them, well-known Roland Garros was chosen as a venue for the Olympic tennis tournament. The happiest of all of the players was probably Rafael Nadal, who has won the tournament incredible 14 times.
However, he is far from his best days, and on top of that, Nadal seems to be struggling with an injury setback ahead of the Olympics. If that wasn't enough, the draw was absolutely brutal to the 38-year-old, who drew Marton Fucsovics from Hungary in the first round of the tournament.
That wouldn't be really a problem, even though Fucsovics is a great player, capable of causing an upset, the biggest challenge of the tournament may come already in the second round for Nadal, who could face his greatest rival, Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian will enter the tournament as the top seed after Jannik Sinner's withdrawal and, like his main rival for the title, Carlos Alcaraz, the 37-year-old was very lucky with the first-round draw. In the first round of the tournament, he will play against Matthew Ebden, who entered the draw as an alternate, having played his last singles match in 2022.
The second-seeded Spaniard received similarly inexperienced opponent from the ATP Tour level tournaments, taking on the World No. 275, Hady Habib from Lebanon, who has never played from an opponent ranked higher than 84th in the world.
Should the 21-year-old succeed in the first round, his second-round opponent will be much more experienced, as he will take on the winner of the match between Cameron Norrie and Tallon Griekspoor.
One of the favorites in Paris will be also the sixth-seeded Casper Ruud, who played in two French Open finals before, and in the first round of the Olympic tournament, he will take on Taro Daniel from Japan.
Probably the most interesting part of the draw includes the first-round matchup between the seventh-seeded Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik, with the winner taking on the winner of the match between Jack Draper and Kei Nishikori.
The third-seeded Alexander Zverev will also be among the favorites at Roland Garros, starting his tournament against Jaume Munar. The full draw for the 2024 Paris Olympics men's singles tournament can be viewed below.
