The second edition of the Zhuhai Championships will also see the return of Tour-level tennis to China for the first time in four years.

The tournament will run from September 20th to 26th and has committed a prize money pool of $981,785. Zhuhai is one of China's most modern cities and is nicknamed the city of a hundred islands because of the number of islands that are in closer proximity to the ports.

The 2023 Zhuhai Championships will be staged at the Hengqin Tenis Center, which is a tennis complex that usually hosted three tennis tournaments per year pre-pandemic. The centre court is lavishly built and can accommodate up to 5,000 spectators at a go.

There is no shortage of world-class names in the entry list, with World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev expected to spearhead the field as the top seed. Fellow Russian Karen Khachanov will also join him with British lefty Cameron Norrie and Jan Lennard Struff - set to make his long-awaited comeback from injury - also appearing in the initial list.

Andy Murray, who tends to save his best tennis for the Asian swing having won seven career titles in this continent, will also make the trip to Zhuhai for the second time after losing to eventual champion Alex de Minaur in 2019.

The 2023 champion will earn $149,330, which is slightly over $10,000 less than what de Minaur earned four years ago. That is because the tournament will allocate slightly more for those players who will lose in the earlier rounds.

The finalist will make $87,110 for a week of work in addition to 150 ranking points. A semifinalist at the Zhuhai Championships will get a paycheck amounting to $51,215 and 90 points, while losing in the quarterfinals stage will net players $29,675 in prize money and 45 points.

Players who win a match but lose in the second round will get $17,230 and 20 points. Those who lose in the first round won't get any points but their coffers will be $10,530 heavier. You can check the tabulated figures of the prize money of the 2023 Zhuhai Championships below.
