The 2023 Stuttgart Open is the first grass-court event of the season and the draw is full of star names.
Starting a grass-court season early is in the best interest of all players that want to do at Wimbledon and there are quite few of them that signed up for the ATP 250 tournament in Stuttgart, also referred to as the BOSS Open.
The tournament, which runs from June 12th to 18th, also offers interesting prize money to players and the fight for the title should be really good, given the names that signed up for the event.
Last year, Matteo Berrettini, who is a two-time champion, won the tournament and he'll defend his title this year. In the first round, the seventh-seeded Italian will start against fellow compatriot Lorenzo Sonego.
The top seed in Stuttgart will be one of the players that received a wild card. Stefanos Tsitsipas is the name, and like all top four seeds, he has a bye in the first round, but already in the second round, he can face a difficult challenge in an experienced Richard Gasquet or one of the qualifiers.
The 2023 Stuttgart Open also marks return of Nick Kyrgios, who despite missing every tournament this season so far, still is among the seeded players. The eighth-seeded Australian will start against Yibing Wu from China in the first round and already in the second round, he can play against Denis Shapovalov or one of the qualifiers.
The third-seeded Frances Tiafoe is another interesting name in the draw. The American has a bye in the first round and in the round number two, he may meet Jiri Lehecka or another American Marcos Giron.
The second-seeded Taylor Fritz is also one of the American players in the draw and he'll start his campaign against either Aslan Karatsev or Corentin Moutet.
