Emma Raducanu admitted at Roland Garros that she hopes to play doubles with Andy Murray at Wimbledon calling it a wish of hers.
Murray was made aware of that and he spoke fondly about the idea in the past but in a recent interview with GQ Murray doubles down on it. Calling himself a fan, Murray raved about the young compatriot who shoulders a similar burden now to what Murray had to do for over a decade.
Yeah, I'd love to play with her. I love watching her play. I think she's brilliant. I think she's going to be amazing for the sport. Not just in the UK, but especially in the UK. Actually, we had spoken last year about potentially playing mixed doubles at Wimbledon, and then both of us ended up doing well in the singles so we ended up not doing it. But yeah, I would I would love to play with her.
The conversation steered into a question of whether they could even play this year and while Murray was reserved in his response he admitted there might be a chance if they both lose early. He underlined that his priority is the singles which is the same for Raducanu. They are both coming off of injuries as well so pushing their bodies too much would not be smart.
I don't know. I've not spoken to her about it, but would depend on the singles. Obviously, both owe will be prioritising that and hopefully having a good run there. And if that's the case, then that will be our priority. But yeah, if we both didn't do well, then maybe. At some stage in the future I would certainly love to. I think it'd be great fun.
