The 23-time Grand Slam champion is getting in shape ahead of the 2022 Wimbledon as Serena Williams and Ons Jabeur won another match at the 2022 Eastbourne International to reach the semi-final.

Williams announced not long ago that she will make a comeback to tennis with a couple of events on the schedule. Most notable, of course, was Wimbledon, which will be her first singles event in a year.

The last singles event she played was last year's Wimbledon, where she ultimately suffered an injury that has kept her away from the courts ever since then. Before competing at Wimbledon, Williams traveled to Eastbourne to prepare in the doubles event in Eastbourne.

It was supposed to serve as a preparation for her ahead of Wimbledon, giving her a chance to play on the grass before the grass-court major. She enlisted the help of Ons Jabeur in that endeavor, and so far, it’s been going really well.

They had a sensational comeback win in their first match together, edging out Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova in three sets, with the final set being a 13-11 win in a match tie-break.

Their next opponents were doubles specialists Shuko Aoyama and Hao-Ching Chan, and they won again. The opening set was a stunning display from the American-Tunisian combo as they won the opening set 6-2 by breaking their opponents twice.

The second set was a bit tougher as they didn’t dominate as much as they did in the first set. They had plenty of chances but took a while to convert them as they won it 6-4. Throughout the match, Williams and Jabeur kept firing aces as they hit a total of 7 during the two sets.

Overall, it was just a really solid showing with a chance now to play in the semi-final for Williams and Jabeur. It won’t be easy as the opponents are Magda Linette and Aleksandra Krunic.

If they win, however, they will find themselves in the final and that’s certainly something both would be interested in. For Serena, getting a chance to play matches is most important.
