Tennis legend Andy Murray has come to the defence of Emma Raducanu who has been under heavy pressure for failing to live up to the level shoed at US Open.

Murray gave an interview to BBC sports where he touched upon many topics and one of them was Emma Raducanu who broke out in tennis last year at the event. Heading into this event Raducanu has the pressure of a nation on her shoulders with many expecting a very strong showing from her. That sort of result has not happened so far this season and many think it will be a while until it does.

Murray said:

"Just let her be who she is, and you know, she might say some things that are a joke or maybe she doesn't mean or whatever. There's a few people in this room I'm sure when they were 18 or 19, made some mistakes and did some things they shouldn't have done and said some things they definitely shouldn't have said and athletes are the same. We will make mistakes and say the wrong things at time but just maybe don't judge us too harshly when we do that and I'm sure that would help Emma a little bit."

Raducanu herself admitted recently that people expected too much of her. It's clearly obvious that some of that pressure is having a negative effect on her.
