Halep proud of "special person" Mouratoglou following Rune success

After Simona Halep ended her 2022 season early, before announcing that she tested positive for a banned substance, her coach Patrick Mouratoglou joined forces with young Danish talent Holger Rune.

The French coach started coaching the youngster only in October but already one month later, Holger Rune lifted his first ATP 1000 title at the Paris Masters and broke into Top 10 of the ATP Rankings. When announcing that he will be joining Rune's team, Mouratoglou said:

“While Simona Halep is taking time to recover and is away from the game, she encouraged me to seek a new collaboration,” Mouratoglou said in a statement, adding: “Today I’m pleased to announce that I will officially be joining the team of Holger Rune. Together we’ll compete in four tournaments and prepare in the winter season for 2023.”

Following the Dane's triumph in the French capital, Simona Halep, who watched his success under her coach showed her appreciation for "special person" Patrick Mouratoglou who led Holger Rune to the biggest triumph of his career, when she wrote on Instagram:

“Congrats Holger Rune, i enjoyed watching you! Proud of my coach Patrick Mouratoglou, special person!”
