'Doesn't Give A Single Game': Djokovic Praises 'Warrior' Swiatek At US Open

Novak Djokovic was quick to praise World No.1 Iga Swiatek on what she has achieved thus far in the game.

There are hardly any better candidates than Novak Djokovic when it comes to really knowing what it takes to be at the top of the sport, but perhaps even more significantly, what it takes to stay at the top.

Djokovic often displays the resilience, heart and unmatched discipline to fend off challengers that are trying to take over, but the Serbian was complimentary about the success of a certain notable WTA player, also.

Iga Swiatek first moved to the World No.1 ranking in April 2022, and has since spent a huge 74 weeks in the top position. In addition to this, the Pole has already racked up four major titles and it feels like the sky is the limit as to what she can go on to achieve. Djokovic thinks no different as he gave his opinion on the special talent.

"Well, Iga has been dominating the women's game for the last couple of years, multiple Grand Slam winner. I love her. Devotion, dedication. Also, you know, maybe she is too humble to say, but she's got a great fighting spirit, no doubt."

"She's a warrior. She goes out there and doesn't give a single game. Actually she has probably the most bagels of anyone in women's tennis in the last few years. It speaks about how seriously and professionally she's taking every single point and game on the court. I really like that kind of champion spirit and mindset."

Djokovic and Swiatek operate in very different ways. With Djokovic more tactically flexible, while Swiatek is more process-driven as to how she approaches every point. But one aspect they are no different on is how they would do absolutely everything in order to win.
