After a four-year hiatus, the Hopman Cup makes its comeback to the tennis world in 2023, and the entry is nothing short of spectacular.
Featuring some of the best ATP & WTA players from across the globe, the tournament promises to be a unique and exciting showcase of talent and skills. Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked second in the world, leads his country's team, and while he was supposed to play alongside Paula Badosa, the Spanish No. 1 withdrew and was replaced by Rebeka Masarova.
But Alcaraz and Masarova are not the only talented players to look out for in the tournament. Hosts France will field experienced duo Richard Gasquet and Alize Cornet, while Switzerland will feature the dynamic pairing of Cline Naef and Leandro Riedi. With each country's team consisting of a men's and women's singles match, followed by a mixed doubles match, the tournament format adds an extra level of excitement.
The Hopman Cup has always been a unique event in the tennis world, offering a mixed-gender format that celebrates the best of both men's and women's tennis. The matches are played over the best of three sets, with a super tie-break deciding the winner in the third set, making for some thrilling displays of skill and athleticism.
Tennis fans from around the world are eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament, which will take place from Wednesday, July 19th to Sunday, July 23rd at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club. With some of the biggest names in tennis set to compete, the Hopman Cup promises to be an unforgettable event that showcases the very best of the sport.
Richard Gasquet, Alizé Cornet, and Belinda Bencic, who withdrew from the tournament all know how it feels to win the event. The Swiss players won the last two editions in 2018 and 2019 alongside Roger Federer, while Gasquet won with Kristina Mladenovic in 2017, and Cornet triumphed alongside Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2014.
Later, three more teams were announced for the renewed Hopman Cup. Denmark will be represented by Holger Rune and Clara Tauson. Croatia will also compete with Borna Coric and Donna Vekic leading the country, and Belgium will be represented by David Goffin and Elise Mertens.
