Andy Murray made some nice comments about Iga Swiatek on social media after he saw how dominant she was in recent weeks.
In the past couple of weeks, the Polish sensation has been unstoppable. After losing to Elena Rybakina in the fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open, Swiatek signed up for the WTA 500 tournament in Doha and the WTA 1000 event in Dubai.
She cruised through the Qatar Open in an incredible fashion, winning the title, and in Dubai, her form is no different, losing only three games in the opening two matches, before her quarterfinal opponent, Karolina Pliskova withdrew from the tournament.
Tennis journalist Jose Morgado posted Swiatek's impressive scores in the last two weeks, showing how she's barely losing a game per match. Murray saw the tweets, responding to it by simply stating that Swiatek was different, appreciating her qualities.
"She is different [fire emoji]."
Swiatek, who has been big Rafael Nadal fan in her childhood, appreciates when any of her colleagues praises her, and being praised by the former world no. 1, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and three-time Grand Slam champion, certainly means a lot to her.
She got wind of that and responded to Murray in the comments, paying tribute to a legendary player with some very kind words, praising his resilience, as the Brith continues to battle on the tennis court, despite being told he would not be able to run after his surgeries.
"And you are a resilience role model and an inspiration on do many levels. Thank you for everything that you do for this sport."
In the coming days, both will have a similar task. Murray, who received Qatar Open wild card, will want to prove his qualities, while Swiatek will want to keep her win streak going in Doha.
