Emma Raducanu parted ways with Torben Beltz, and the decision was met with further curiosity as to what she plans on doing next.

Her initial decision to fire her coach, which led her to the US Open, Andrew Richardson, was met with both curiosity and criticism, as many pointed out the illogical nature of the move.

Raducanu justified it by explaining she needed someone with experience, pointing out she was looking for a long-term hire. Torben Beltz was named the new coach, but he lasted only a few months as they split.

The move was questioned by former player Barry Cowan, who offered his insights on the 2021 US Open champion's coaching change in a talk with Sky Sports.

"Anyone who is not involved in the sport would think that’s a bit strange, she’s looking for a new coach. Most importantly, whoever she hires next this really does need to be someone who is with her for a long period of time because you can’t keep changing coach."
"You can maybe get away with it once or twice but you can’t keep changing coaches every four or five months and think long term that’s going to be a benefit."

Remarkably, Raducanu will now be looking for a fourth coach in less than a year. She left Nigel Sears after reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon and then decided not to renew Richardson’s contract after she spectacularly won the US Open.

Cowan clearly isn't a fan of her frequent coaching changes, arguing that the British player needs consistency.

"Jokingly it’s like she started to do better so maybe a new coach was required! That’s kind of been the theme with Emma since Wimbledon. I think it’s a worry. I have consistently said that what I’ve felt Emma needs is someone in her corner consistently. She is not able to have that."
