Coco Gauff revealed a hilarious interaction with a fan who mistook her for Canadian player Leylah Fernandez, something she says is becoming prevalent while signing autographs.

Gauff won her second-round match at the Canadian Open on Wednesday afternoon, easily dispatching British number one player Katie Boulter 6-2, 6-2, taking her recent win streak to five matches following her title win at the Citi Open during the weekend.

Gauff responded to a tweet on X and said that most of the time, fans notice who she is, but is occasionally mistaken for players such as Sloane Stephens, Serena and Venus Williams, and perhaps wildly Leylah Fernandez of Canada while signing autographs on Tuesday.

"I sign autographs as myself but occasionally I am somehow also signing as Sloane, Venus, Serena, Taylor, Alycia, and yesterday I got Leylah for the first time lol."

Her doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, who is ten years older, had a similar experience, and she has also shared it with fans.

"One time I signed and the woman thought I was you…that one got me lol."

And from the replies, Gauff wasn't the only pro who is a victim in that regard. American ATP player Christopher Eubanks who recently rose to the world's Top 30 disclosed that fans mistook him for looking like Monfils on two occasions in Washington this past week.

"I got called Monfils twice in DC lol."

These light-hearted, but genuinely funny interactions had tennis fans rolling in laughter in the replies section. Last month Andrey Rublev also revealed that he is always mistaken for his looks to fellow ATP players Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Even as he became a top-10 mainstay, the situation hasn't changed.

Gauff will look to reach the quarterfinals at the Canadian Open in her next match. She will face Marketa Vondrousova, who managed to beat Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets.
