Iga Swiatek is still the undisputed leader in the 2024 WTA Race, but there are others catching up, notably one player.
The Polish player won the Qatar Open and the Indian Wells Open, triumphs thanks to which she's currently the leading player in both, the WTA Rankings, and the 2024 WTA Race.
The 2024 WTA Race represents points earned only in the 2024 season, and the top eight players will compete at the WTA Finals, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the following three seasons.
Swiatek leads the 2024 WTA Race with 3140 points, with Elena Rybakina in second with 2693 points and Aryna Sabalenka closely behind her with 2520 points.
However, Danielle Collins is closing up on all of them, as she earned 1500 points over the past two weeks, thanks to her sensational triumph at the Miami Open, which she followed up on with the Charleston Open trophy.
As a result, the American player now has 2022 points, only around 1000 points behind the leading Pole and about 500 points behind the other two players of the so-called WTA's Big Three.
There were other significant movers in the Top 10, as Daria Kasatkina jumped up by seven places to 10th after playing in the final of the Charleston Open, currently with 1358 points, only seven ahead of Maria Sakkari, who is only one point ahead of Marta Kostyuk.
Veronika Kudermetova, who played the quarter-final in Charleston was one of the most significant movers in the Top 50, as she improved by 21 positions to 46th.
Camila Osorio, who won the 2024 Bogota Open, also made a massive improvement, jumping up by 81 places to position 51.
