Sloane Stephens recently shared her thoughts on potentially missing out on representing the USA at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

The Olympics tennis tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 27th, and will be played at Stade Roland Garros, the same venue that plays host to the French Open. Only the Top 56 players will qualify based on the actual ranking as of June 10th, 2024.

Stephens has a great record at Roland Garros. She reached her second Grand Slam final while playing at the 2018 tournament, losing in three sets to Simona Halep. She calls the clay major one of her favorite tournaments on the calendar.

It is hard to dispute that. In 12 trips, she has made the second week on nine occasions. Aside from the runner-up finish six years ago, Stephens is also a two-time quarterfinalist at the clay slam and reached the round of 16 while competing last year.

Stephens is currently out in the reckoning to feature at the 2024 Olympics. She is currently ranked 74th in the Olympics race and will need a massive upturn in fortunes to qualify. However, she is not losing sleep at the possibility of missing out on playing the Games.

"Obviously, I'd love to make it (to the Olympics), but our bench is really tough; it always has been, and someone always gets left out. It won't be the end of the world if I don't make it."

"But obviously Paris, playing at Roland Garros, is one of my favorite venues I've ever played at and done well at, so it would be nice. But I'm not going to die if I don't make it."

The former US Open champion represented the USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil but lost in the first round to Eugenie Bouchard. It remains her only ever appearance on that stage.
