Coco Gauff tasted major success at the 2023 US Open, and it's not a surprise that ahead of the opening Grand Slam of the 2024 season, she wants more.
The young has been showing why she's the top talent on the WTA Tour for quite some time, but it wasn't until 2023 that she finally managed to win her first Grand Slam title.
In 2024, she can follow up on that success, and one of the first tournaments on her schedule will be the first Grand Slam of 2024, the Australian Open in Melbourne Park, running from January 14th to 28th, 2024, with a historic Sunday start.
Ahead of the new season, the world no. 3 in the WTA Rankings, spoke to one of her sponsors, Rolex, as per Forbes, talking about how it felt to win her first-ever Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows.
"Winning the U.S. Open was a crazy feeling – one that I had never felt before and I don’t think I will ever feel again. I had dreamt of winning a Grand Slam and the moment was even better than I could have ever imagined."
The firsts are always the most memorable, and that's why the feeling that she had may not be replicable for the American, but that doesn't mean that she's not hungry for more.
Ahead of the 2024 Australian Open, Gauff wants to show her qualities at the major stage, now as a Grand Slam winner, and she's looking to add to her title collection, something that she's certainly capable of doing.
"For sure, my goal next year is to win another, and to represent Rolex and women’s tennis at the same time is a huge honor. I’m always looking forward to the next challenge and can’t wait to return to Melbourne as a Grand Slam champion."
