Iga Swiatek received praise from seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander, who believes the Polish star is a complete player.

Swiatek is on a marathon winning streak. She extended her run of victories to 29 consecutive matches with a strong Roland Garros first-round and straight-sets win over Lesia Tsurenko.

Since a defeat in February at the Dubai Tennis Championship against Jelena Ostapenko, Swiatek remains unbeaten and she has won five WTA titles during this streak.

Only three players in women's tennis history have produced longer winning streaks than Swiatek's run in 2022. Former WTA number ones Justine Henin (30), Serena Williams (34), and Venus Williams (35) are the only players to go on a longer run than Swiatek's 29.

All eyes will be on the young Polish player at the 2022 Roland Garros to see if she can go all the way and add to her impressive run. Former ATP player Wilander, when speaking to Eurosport, believes that Swiatek is currently the perfect player and has the confidence to keep winning.

"To me, Iga Swiatek does not have any weaknesses right now, especially on the clay court. She moves really well. Her forehand is easily the best forehand on the women's tour. She knows how to come to the net and the best part about her is that she is playing each point with a purpose."

"She's not getting upset with herself or down with herself. She's simply dominating all the players on the different surfaces."

At just 20 years old, Swiatek has already proven that she has what it takes to compete at the highest standard in the WTA. After beating Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open final in March this year, Swiatek claimed the number one rankings spot and she looks unlikely to give up that position anytime soon.

In addition, the Polish player has all the components required to lift the Roland Garros title this season. Her first French Open title came in 2019 when she was just 19 years old, and more success can come this year if she continues to play at her current standard.
