Tara Moore, who is currently suspended due to a doping violation, has attacked The Professional Tennis Players Association, co-founded by Novak Djokovic, for not supporting her in a similar way to Simona Halep.
On October 21st, tennis fans worldwide discovered the shocking news that Halep had tested positive for the banned substance roxadustat. She has been provisionally suspended from the WTA Tour.
Halep's career could be in tatters unless she finds a suitable explanation to avoid a lengthy ban. At this early stage of her doping case, whether she will be able to achieve that is uncertain.
Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil founded the Professional Tennis Players Association(PTPA). They wanted to support the interests of players who felt that the ATP was not taking their concerns seriously.
After Halep's positive test for a prohibited substance became public, the PTPA made a supportive statement that promised to fight for her right to a fair appeal and complete due process.
"The PTPA is committed to ensuring that Simona Halep, and every player, has a fair appeal and complete due process. We will fight for her rights and look to advocate for fairness and transparency for all players."
That led to a social media user questioning whether the PTPA fights for all players accused of doping or just high-profile players since it did not make a statement about Moore, who is provisionally suspended for testing positive for a banned substance.
"Do the PTPA help other players that are named in the ITIA website or do they just fight for former Grand Slam Champions like Halep? Haven't seen this statement for others?"
Moore responded very clearly to that user's post, saying the PTPA's silence tells the story of how it feels about protecting lower-ranked players.
"Their silence tells you everything."
The British player also sent a sarcastic tweet thanking the PTPA for helping her and Barbara Gatica, another player who tested positive for a banned substance.
