Nike being so lazy that they have literally taken old material from two of Rafa’s past outfits this year, and combined them, for Paris and Turin 🥴😅
Rafael Nadal's outfit for his last two tournaments of the 2022 season, the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals, was recently revealed.
An underrated part of the tennis experience is the fashion side of the sport, which has been booming in recent years. Tennis has transcended from just being a simple sport for most of its timeline to something much bigger these days.
Today, it’s a product, it’s a sport, it’s a platform, it’s many things, and with that come many opportunities. Tennis has become a way of self-expression, with more and more tennis players taking control of that side of their career.
We’ve seen players launching their own clothing lines but also working with brands on launching specific items like jackets, shorts and more. Another part of that has been outfit reveals, which have become very popular in recent years.
Top players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal create a lot of excitement when they announce the kits they will be playing in at big events. It started with Roger Federer and his iconic RF logo many years ago but has since grown to include everybody.
Players that are not even in the Top 100, like Zdenek Kolar, have their own brands now, which shows how much the market has grown. When it comes to Nadal, he’s now shown off his outfit for the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.
The kit will have a combination of the colors from his previous outfits this year, most notably the two Grand Slam events he won this year. Nike took the black from the Australian Open kit and the green from the Roland Garros kit and combined them into basically a new kit that resembles both of them.
It’s an interesting idea by Nike as they wanted to highlight his achievements this year. The final product looks interesting, even though very few would say that it’s the best kit ever made.
On the tennis courts, Nadal was recently forced to withdraw from his Wimbledon semifinal match against Nick Kyrgios, casting doubt on the future of his season.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion was surprised by Borna Coric in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters before losing to Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round of the US Open. Nadal later withdrew from the Laver Cup after playing doubles with Roger Federer, who was retiring.
