Although Iga Swiatek hasn't been very successful on grass in the past, former WTA player Johanna Konta predicted that she will win Wimbledon in the future.
Konta is a former British player who peaked at number 4 in the rankings and made a few good runs at Wimbledon. She was a much better grass player than Swiatek is right now, but she sees a lot of potential in the Polish player when it comes to playing tennis on grass.
The Pole hasn't had much success on the green surface in the professionals so far despite winning the grass-court major as a junior in 2018. Her best run in the Ladies' Wimbledon draw was a quarter-final last year, in which she lost to Elina Svitolina.
That's certainly a positive development for her, and many expect her to have a solid run this year as well. She's on a tear right now, having won 19 matches in a row, and according to former player Konta, Swiatek will win Wimbledon in the future, possibly even this year.
"I think she’ll be looking to take it one match at a time as she does every tournament she plays. I believe it is only a matter of time – she will win Wimbledon at some point."
"If it’s not this year, it might be next year, if not it might by the following year. It will happen for her – she’s too good of a player, to good of a competitor not to have the opportunity. I do think it’s just a matter of time."
Konta is likely right because Swiatek is just too good not to win all of the majors at least once, but it's up to her to actually do that. It's not a priority for her this year with the Olympics in sight, but she will still try to win at SW19.
