Iga Swiatek will be the number one seed at this year's US Open after maintaining her firm grip on the World No. 1 ranking over nearest challenger Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka's Round of 16 defeat to Liudmila Samsonova in Montreal gave Swiatek total control of top spot and the Pole shut the gates with her semifinal run in Canada. Swiatek then stretched her lead in Cincinnati where she attained her best result at the tournament with a last-four finish.

It means Swiatek will head to the US Open as the world's top-ranked player with 9,955 points ahead of second-placed Sabalenka who has 8,746 points. However, it is pertinent to note that the Polish star is defending 2,000 ranking points after her triumph last year. When the US Open kicks off next week, Swiatek will be just 114 points ahead of the Belarusian in the live rankings.

American teenage phenom Coco Gauff swaps places with Caroline Garcia and moves into sixth place after winning the Cincinnati Masters title on Sunday. Beaten finalist in Ohio, Karolina Muchova, vaults seven spots and makes her Top 10 debut after reaching her second final of the year.

Another Czech also impressed in Cincinnati. Quarterfinalist Marie Bouzkova moves into a seeding pot for the US Open, rising to 31st in the rankings. While fellow compatriot Linda Noskova is rewarded for her sensational run to the Round of 16 at the same event as a qualifier to a new career-high mark of No. 42.

German veteran Tatjana Maria rejoins the world's Top 50 after a dominant week in Barranquilla, Colombia, where she won the WTA 125 event without dropping a set. The woman she defeated in the final - Fiona Ferro - rises 62 spots and back into the Top 200.

American Shelby Rogers drops outside of the Top 100 for the first time since 2020. Rogers hasn't played since a first-round defeat to Elena Rybakina at Wimbledon and is currently out of action due to a serious injury.

China's Yafan Wang captured her sixth title across all levels this season at the weekend, thrashing Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2, 6-0 to win the 125 event in Stanford. She climbs 43 spots to re-enter the Top 150.
