Iga Swiatek stays top of the WTA charts ahead of her nearest challenger Aryna Sabalenka as the stars of women's tennis descend on Montreal.

As per the latest rankings, Swiatek starts her 71st week at number one - putting her in 10th spot among WTA players with the most weeks at no. 1. She ties Danish star Caroline Wozniacki in that regard, but will face stiff competition from Belarusian star Sabalenka in retaining top spot at the Canadian Open this week.

Sabalenka dropped 99 points in the past week, which were accounted for her quarterfinal run at the now-defunct San Jose Open. The world number two now has 8,746 points, which represents a gap of 744 points from the leader Swiatek who is on 9,490 points.

The pair of them will lead the two halves of the draw at this week's Canadian Open. Elsewhere, the third member of the fan-proclaimed Big Three, Elena Rybakina, drops down a spot into fourth place, as Jessica Pegula re-enters the top three following her semifinal run in Washington. There were no new entrants in the world's Top 10.

The WTA playing field in Canada will be at full strength with only three of the current Top 20 players missing out due to injury. On the other side of the rankings, Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk moves to a seeding spot for the US Open, sitting at a career-high number 32. Spain's Paula Badosa continues to drift even further due to her inactivity, dropping to 45th spot.

Czech teenage prodigy Linda Noskova is the biggest mover in the world's Top 100, jumping 19 spots to world number 52. But it is imperative to note that she could rise even further should she win final in Prague which was postponed to Monday due to heavy rains in the Czech capital at the weekend.

Injured American player Shelby Rogers cascades down 40 spots to 92nd in the rankings and will leave the Top 100 in the coming weeks. We're unlikely to see Rogers on the court anytime soon after she posted an update of her current injury and is also preparing for her upcoming wedding.
