Iga Swiatek will be playing in the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final but she didn't achieve it the way she wanted.

The highly anticipated semi-final clash between World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur at the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix came to an abrupt and emotional end. Jabeur, who appeared to be struggling with a left calf injury from the onset, ultimately succumbed to the pain and retired after just three games and 17 minutes.

The match, which had generated considerable excitement among tennis fans, took a somber turn when Jabeur was seen limping in the very first game. After receiving medical treatment and having her calf wrapped, the Tunisian player returned to the court, determined to continue the fight.

Despite her best efforts, Jabeur could not fully execute her shots and serves, and visibly favored her left leg throughout the second game in which she was broken by her Polish opponent.

As the third game unfolded, Jabeur's pain became increasingly apparent. The crowd watched in sympathy as the resurgent player struggled to maintain her usual performance level. Ultimately, Jabeur made the difficult decision to retire from the match, visibly emotional and in tears, but still taking the time to address her fans in an on-court interview.

"Sorry guys, I really tried to run," Jabeur expressed her disappointment, acknowledging the support of her fans.

With Jabeur's retirement, Swiatek moves into the final of the prestigious Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, where she will defend her title against Aryna Sabalenka. While Swiatek's place in the final was secured under less-than-ideal circumstances, the Polish star will undoubtedly bring her A-game in pursuit of another championship title.

Meanwhile, the tennis world sends its best wishes to Jabeur for a swift recovery, eager to see her back on the court for the upcoming clay court season.
