"I wasn’t counting games" - Swiatek on unique format of World Tennis League

Iga Swiatek has continued her dominance this year as she easily beat another opponent and it was Caroline Garcia at the World Tennis League.

Swiatek began her new season in the World Tennis League in Dubai with some Gulf tennis. She faced Caroline Garcia, a player who had dealt her one of the few losses she had all year at her home tournament in Warsaw.

Revenge came at the WTA Finals and she added another win to the tally in Dubai. Besides playing for herself, she was also playing for the team but wasn't counting games:

“Truth be told, I wasn’t counting games,” joked Swiatek. “I’m pretty confident I can focus on other things in matches, change something up with my tactics, or just implement what I’ve been working on in the off-season. The score isn’t the most important thing here."

The key for staying on top is improving and Swiatek believes there is much to improve: “There’s always something to improve. I’m 21, so I think I can actually do many things, but on volleys, especially, we’ve been working on my volley game."

“Mostly it’s fun and learning, so I’m pretty happy that I played such a solid game," concluded Swiatek.
