Rick Macci thinks that Coco Gauff can succeed at the 2022 US Open, as he likes her incredible athletic abilities.

Macci is one of the best coaches in the history of the sport. He worked with multiple players who then ranked first on either Tour, and he has decades of experience.

Macci spoke to Tennis Infinity also ahead of this year's US Open, and it wasn't a surprise when the name of Coco Gauff was mentioned ahead of the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Gauff played her first Grand Slam final at the 2022 Roland Garros, and she's certainly one of the favorites at her home Slam. The crowd will be cheering for the 18-year-old superstar.

According to Macci, she's one of the top favorites at the 2022 US Open, even though he recognized that Iga Swiatek has been the dominant force on the WTA Tour this year.

"I really like the potential of Coco Gauff. Even though I think Iga is gonna probably be the favorite. The one thing she does have a little doubt, she's not invincible, she won 35 in a row."
"When you just win like that, you just think you're meant to win, it's a crazy feeling. But now, her armor has been changed a little bit, so she's more vulnerable. I think she's much better on clay."

Still, Gauff has a major advantage over her opponents, according to Macci. She can move incredibly on the tennis court, so much so that he called her an "Olympic sprinter with a tennis racket."

"I think Coco has the ability, I still feel there's some speed bumps in her serve in her forehand, which was ironic, I talked to her dad a month ago, and hopefully, when she gets a training block, that can kind of really, really be addressed from a biomechanical point of view, but she's an Olympic sprinter with a tennis racket in her hand."
