Raducanu Set For Long-Awaited Top 100 Return Thanks To Wimbledon Run

Emma Raducanu booked the second week of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, which will push her back into the Top 100 on the WTA Tour.

Raducanu was always good enough to return to the Top 100; she's arguably good enough to return even to the Top 10, but it took a while because her ranking plummeted due to inactivity.

At the time of her return in January of this year, Raducanu was ranked 301st. It's a long way to the Top 100, but slowly but surely, the Brit made her way there. She broke back into the Top 200 fairly recently on June 16th after the Nottingham Open run.

She went to the United Kingdom early to get ready for the grass season, and this approach has certainly worked out well for her. Her level at Wimbledon has been great, as she won all of her matches relatively comfortably.

Her most recent win over Maria Sakkari was particularly impressive, as it booked her for the second week of the event, and it was also a win over a Top 10 opponent, which she clearly enjoyed.

"I’m most proud of that I was so focused, so determined in every single point, every single moment. I knew playing Maria, she’s a top 10 opponent, in a way, I came in with a free swing, but she’s so tough, she has amazing weapons and I knew I had to battle and fight hard. I tried not to let the scoreline effect me. You have to play every point like its your last."

This run at Wimbledon so far will earn her 240 points, which is enough to push her 43 spots up on the WTA Rankings, which would currently put her at position No. 92. Obviously, she's still in the draw, and Raducanu can even further improve, as up next, she will play against the World No. 123, Lulu Sun.

If she beats Sun to reach the quarter-finals, she'll improve even more, but she would require at least a semi-final to return to the Top 50, as a fourth-round win would put her in the Top 60 area. Should she win the title at SW19, Raducanu would return into the Top 20.
