World No. 1 Iga Swiatek was left in amazement by Andy Murray's choice of selecting her as his preferred doubles partner but it is unlikely she'll honor that wish anytime soon.

Prior to the start of the 2023 US Open, Murray hinted at a possible mixed doubles union with the WTA star, naming Swiatek as the player he would play doubles with. The Pole reacted to the video on X, with a shocked emoji face and a GIF depicting a surprised look of a dog.

Swiatek was finally able to respond to Murray's demands and showered high praise on the former ATP No. 1. The 22-year-old stated that it would be a dream come true to share the court in a mixed doubles match. However, Swiatek politely declined the offer as she is more focused on her singles career right now.

Tennis fans were certainly looking forward for the pair to join forces in mixed doubles, but with a lot on her plate given the packed schedule, Swiatek hopes Murray will forgive her for not honoring that wish.

"I love that he said that. It’s kind of a dream come true. I watched Andy when I was younger. He always had such a cool game and is such a cool person as well. Really humble and down to earth. So I'm happy he said that. I wish I could play mixed doubles. For me, singles is enough, especially with such an intense and long season. So I'll just focus on singles but I think Andy will forgive me. So we'll see."

Asked if they could play together anytime soon, Swiatek added she would personally talk to him. It will be interesting to watch any developments between the two about a potential mixed doubles match. But nevertheless, Swiatek and Murray will both be happy to still be in the tournament.

The Pole advanced to the third round of the US Open with another straight-sets win over Daria Saville. It was her ninth straight victory in New York and continues to exert pressure on Aryna Sabalenka in the chase for the World No. 1 ranking.
