Jessica Pegula will be playing in the third round of the 2023 Miami Open after she conquered world no. 172, Katherine Sebov from Canada.

The world no. 3 on the WTA Tour certainly wasn't happy with her performance at the first leg of the Sunshine Double when she lost already in the fourth round in Indian Wells.

At the 2023 Miami Open, Pegula will want to go much further, and she started really well. After a bye in the first round, the American took on Katherine Sebov, who came through qualifying and defeated 17-year-old prodigy Linda Fruhvirtova in the first round.

The match started better for a more experienced player, who got the first break of the match in the opening game. However, Sebov was able to break back, but the score wasn't even for a long time.

Pegula broke her opponent, who previously came through the qualifying once more, and this time, she didn't lose her advantage. The American added one more break, and after only 37 minutes, she took the first set, winning it 6-3.

In the second set, world no. 3 increased the intensity and broke her opponent twice more. She didn't lose her serve in the second set and after an hour and six minutes, she won the match 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the third round of the Miami Open.

Up next, Pegula will take on compatriot Danielle Collins, who is the 30th-seeded player and knows how it feels to play a major final, as she made it to the final stages of the Australian Open last year.

This year, she's yet to reach that level, but after overcoming Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova 7-6(3), 6-2, the American will want to prove that she's the better player in the all-American clash at the 2023 Miami Open in Miami, Florida.
