Naomi Osaka pulled out of the 2023 Australian Open, confirming speculation that had been present for several days in many media outlets.

Osaka's fans were undoubtedly hoping for a strong start to 2023 after a disappointing 2022 by her high standards. She did not reach the quarterfinal at any of the Grand Slams and lacked confidence throughout the year.

Various theories were posited for the four-time Grand Slam champion's struggles throughout the season. Marion Bartoli argued that she was doing too many things off the court, making it hard for her to focus on tennis.

Osaka is undoubtedly one of the busiest players off the court. She co-founded a production company, Hana Kuma, which stunningly received an Emmy nomination for its first project, a documentary about Patsy Mink.

The former WTA world No. 1 also created the Play Academy. Its goal is to provide opportunities for kids worldwide through various initiatives such as extra-curricular activities and funding for other important programs.

Osaka committed to focusing on tennis during a television appearance last year, but that plan has been put on hold after the Australian Open confirmed that its 2019 and 2021 women's singles champion withdrew from this year's Grand Slam.

Osaka has not played since withdrawing from the second round of the Japan Open last season. Many reports predicted that the 25-year-old would not play at the season's opening tournament.

The Australian Open announced Osaka's withdrawal on its social media pages. No details were provided about why that decision was taken, which indicates that the tennis star did not want the reason for her move to be revealed.

Hopefully, Osaka is okay and fans can watch her blistering tennis style again soon. Her game is among the best on the WTA or ATP Tour to watch when she is near her best.
