Naomi Osaka launches media company Hana Kuma to challenge herself outside of tennis

Naomi Osaka once again proved that she's not only a successful tennis player but also an aspiring businesswoman. She has decided to launch her own media company called Hana Kuma.

Osaka has decided to work together with NBA superstar LeBron James and form a media company. The Japanese tennis player wants to challenge herself with this move. The company's name stands for "flower and bear" in Japanese.

The four-time Grand Slam champion announced the launch of her media company, saying that one of the main reasons why she has decided to enter this business was to test herself and a new field.

"For me, I've wanted to test new waters. I'm a very challenging person, like the harder something seems, the more I want to attempt to do it. Just seeing that there aren't many female athletes to do such a thing. Say someone's already paved that way then I'm kind of like okay someone's already there."

Osaka is aware of how streaming is becoming bigger every day with each new service, platform, and business. She wants to help with her media company as well.

"In the streaming age, content has a more global perspective. You can see this in the popularity of television from Asia, Europe and Latin America that the unique can also be universal."

The company's official statement confirmed that Hana Kuma plans to produce unique stories that will be specific to different audiences.
