Serena Williams was very proud of the hard work put into the King Richard film, and she believes its legacy will live on for a long time.
King Richard is an American biographical movie released in 2021, which shows the life of Richard Williams, the father of Serena and Venus Williams, as he tried to make his daughters successful tennis players.
The movie won several awards including a controversial Best Actor award at the 94th Academy Awards for Will Smith, who plays Richard in the film.
Serena Williams obviously saw the movie and has a great interest in it, as, through her father, fans of the sport also get to see her life story and how she became the greatest tennis player of all time.
Recently, the 23-time major winner appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show and spoke about the entire staff's dedication to producing the movie and how accurately it portrayed her family.
"It takes a lot of work, and that is what I really loved about the movie. It was the fact that you know so much about us just as players and these holding up championships and holding up trophies."
"But there is so much more that goes into that. It’s every day. It’s hard work, it’s so much dedication from my parents, both my mom and my dad."
Furthermore, Williams stated she was proud of how everyone worked to ensure the movie's success despite being shut down by the pandemic and believed the film would live on for a long time.
"The film was amazing; it was so cool to see the whole process come together. Took a really long time, and it got shut down for covid. But I was so proud of everyone and how everything came together, and yeah, it was a wonderful moment. I think the film will live on for a really long time."
