Swiatek Asked Shocking Makeup Question following Roland Garros triumph

| by Jordan Reynolds

Most would have expected reporters to focus on Iga Swiatek's on-court heroics after the French Open final, but one media member decided to ask a disgraceful question.

In the last few months, the world no. 1's form has been among the best ever seen in women's tennis. She entered the French Open after winning titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, and Rome.

Swiatek's incredible level continued at Roland-Garros. The 21-year-old claimed her second title in Paris by crushing Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3. She only dropped one set during the tournament.

Her triumph over Gauff was also her 35th consecutive match win, with Swiatek's last defeat coming against Jelena Ostapenko in Dubai. Hence, one would expect the Pole's tennis to be the topic of her press conference after the French Open final.

Unfortunately, one reporter at the press conference decided to make himself the center of attention by asking a ridiculous question, which has led to much-deserved backlash.

"Outside of the court, when you go to a party, do you use makeup? Do you like to go elegant and smart and so on? Because many players we have seen in the past, they were staying hours in front of the mirror before going on court and using the makeup. And you seem very natural like this."

It is astounding that the best women's player in the world right now was asked a question like that. Whether Swiatek uses makeup or any part of her appearance should not be the reporters' focus; her outstanding tennis should be.

Many players would have understandably reacted angrily to receiving a question like that. However, Swiatek decided that the question was not even worthy of a response.

"Okay. Thank you."

That was a very effective way of shutting down the reporter's ludicrous question. Hopefully, the reporter now realizes how absurdly they acted.
